Hema Malini was born in the Tamil-speaking Chakravarthy household in Ammankudi, Tamil Nadu. After performing as a dancer in a 1961 regional movie, she attempted acting but was rejected because she had no star appeal. Hema Malini videos debuted in Sapnon Ka Saudagar then starred in close to 140 movies, produced and directed two movies, and directed a TV serial Noopur. Hema is a member of the right-winged Bharatiya Janata Party and became Rajya Sabha member–the Upper House of the Indian Parliament. She wears bell-bottom and shirts in Hindi movies and also kept her word of not wearing any revealing outfits in public.
