Modern Ceilidh Bands – A Scottish Tradition!
Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012Modern Ceilidh Bands – A Scottish Tradition!
ceilidh bands in the modern sense is basically a gathering of people who together – often in pair of groups of up to 6, who may then interact of change partners with other pairs or groups during each dance – perform a series of different traditional Scottish dances, such as Gay Gordon’s, Military Two Step and Canadian Barn Dance. This is done to live music provided by a Ceilidh band, and before each dance the bands “caller” will call out and explain the dance they are about to play, so as to make sure that everyone knows what they are supposed to do.
